Dolomiti Superski raises prices amid climate and cost pressures

The winter sports industry in Northern Italy is facing significant economic and environmental challenges. As the 2026/27 season approaches, operators are grappling with rising costs, energy price volatility, and uncertain snow conditions driven by climate change.

While many smaller facilities have already been decommissioned, larger ski associations are continuing to invest heavily in infrastructure. Dolomiti Superski, an association of twelve ski areas including Cortina d’Ampezzo, Kronplatz, and Marmolada, has announced price increases for the 2026/27 season. President Andy Varallo stated that the tariff adjustments are necessary to account for inflation and rising costs for energy, raw materials, services, and infrastructure maintenance.

Experts note that ski resorts located at lower altitudes, specifically between 1,000 and 1,500 meters, are particularly vulnerable to these changing environmental conditions.
