Dolph Lundgren details cancer battle and suicide contemplations in new memoir

Actor Dolph Lundgren has shared details regarding his nearly decade-long battle with cancer in his new memoir, ‘Fights Worth Fighting: Finding Strength in Struggle’. The 68-year-old actor revealed that during a period of intense despair, he contemplated traveling to a country like Switzerland to pursue legal assisted suicide. He noted that he had even discussed the possibility with his brother, Johan, who had agreed to assist him if he were unable to complete the act himself.

Lundgren’s medical journey began in 2015 with the surgical removal of a kidney tumor. While he remained in remission for five years, doctors discovered new tumors in 2020 that had spread to his liver, lungs, and spine. Following a terminal prognosis, Lundgren sought a second opinion from oncologist Dr. Alexandra Drakaki. Dr. Drakaki determined he had been misdiagnosed, identifying the illness as lung cancer rather than recurring kidney cancer, a discovery that led to a revised treatment plan and a significant improvement in his condition.
