Domžale hosts traditional beekeeping event

A traditional beekeeping event titled ‘NAJ MEDI!’ took place at the market square in Domžale on September 5, 2026. Beekeepers from the Domžale, Tuhin, and Lukovica associations presented various products, including honey, pollen, propolis, and honey-based sweets.

In addition to sales, the event featured educational activities such as honey tastings, demonstrations of observation hives and virtual hives, and apitherapy consultations provided by Nika Pengal and Špela Šafar. Local beekeeping associations also offered honey at a unified price of 15 euros per 900 grams.

Despite a catastrophic drought earlier in the year, organizers noted that this year's honey yield is among the best in recent years. While acacia and linden honey were abundant, chestnut and beech honey production lagged due to high temperatures.
