Regional law enforcement reports surge in traffic violations and criminal activity

Various law enforcement agencies across the Balkans and Central Europe report a surge in traffic violations, criminal activity, and domestic violence incidents.

In Bulgaria, authorities have collected over 80% of speeding fines issued last year, totaling 17,822 euros. Meanwhile, in Montenegro, labor inspections on the coast identified 771 irregularities, resulting in 750,000 euros in fines, primarily within the hospitality sector.

Traffic safety remains a critical issue. Fatalities and injuries were reported in Croatia involving motorcyclists, and in Slovenia, a 19-year-old hiker died after falling near Triglav. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a collision between a truck and a motorcycle on the M-17 road caused significant traffic disruptions.

Criminal activities include the arrest of a Bosnian citizen at the Sitnica-Zupci border crossing on an Interpol warrant for money laundering and organized crime. In Slovenia, police conducted specialized training for high-speed emergency driving, while in the Czech Republic, officers focused on motorcycle safety and speed enforcement. Domestic violence cases were also noted in several regions, including Banská Bystrica, Slovakia.
