Domenico Scilipoti Isgrò links faith and politics to human dignity

Senator Domenico Scilipoti Isgrò, National Coordinator of the Christian Democracy Departments and President of Unione Cristiana, has shared reflections on the intersection of faith, medicine, and politics.

Scilipoti Isgrò emphasized the fragility and value of human life, noting that religion provides essential certainties, including the ability to connect with a higher power and the assurance of being heard and welcomed. He argued that political institutions have a duty to protect human life and dignity, guided by the Social Doctrine of the Church.

Drawing on his medical background, he cautioned that medicine must not become soul-less technique but must remain centered on the person. He called for political action to focus on the common good, specifically protecting the most vulnerable, including the elderly, the sick, the unborn, and families in difficulty, to combat social loneliness and polarization.
