Domestic violence indictments filed in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia

Authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia have filed indictments against two men for domestic violence and threats against their parents.

In Foča, Bosnia and Herzegovina, a 39-year-old man faces charges of domestic violence after allegedly assaulting his father. According to the Trebinje District Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect struck his father and held him at knifepoint, demanding 700 KM. The victim complied with the demand before reporting the incident to the police. If convicted, the man faces a fine or up to three years in prison.

In Zagorje, Croatia, a 52-year-old man is facing charges for the repeated physical and verbal abuse of his mother. The Zlatar Municipal State Attorney's Office alleges that the suspect, who has a long-standing alcohol addiction, frequently insulted and threatened his mother with death. The indictment includes an incident where he allegedly struck her with a walking stick. Prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence of four years and eight months.
