Domineestraat reconstruction nears completion

The reconstruction of Domineestraat, specifically the section between Neumanpad and Steenbakkerijstraat, is approaching completion. Work on the sidewalks is currently underway, with the northern side finished and the southern side approximately 60 to 70 percent complete.

Following the completion of the sidewalks, which is expected by late October or the first week of November, a second layer of asphalt will be applied. The project, which began on August 3, 2026, involves replacing old sewage systems and road foundations to address previous damage to the road surface and drainage.

Vikash Moenna, Deputy Director of Dry Civil Engineering at the Ministry of Public Works and Spatial Planning, noted that special traffic signs have been installed to ensure safety and flow. While the construction has impacted local businesses, officials stated that the community has shown understanding, recognizing that the improvements are necessary for long-term infrastructure stability. The entire project is scheduled for completion by mid-November.
