Domingos Duarte suffers ACL rupture, ending season for São Paulo

São Paulo FC defender Domingos Duarte has been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. The injury occurred during a match against Internacional in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The 31-year-old Portuguese player, who had recently become a key pillar in the team's defensive system, will require surgery to reconstruct the ligament. The injury is expected to end his 2026 season.

Coach Dorival Júnior will need to adjust the defensive lineup, which previously relied on the trio of Duarte, Arboleda, and Sabino. Potential replacements for the defensive axis include the use of Rafael Tolói alongside Arboleda and Sabino.
