Dominic Foppoli found liable for sexually assaulting seven women

A Sonoma County jury has found former Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli liable for the sexual assault of seven women in a civil trial. The verdict orders Foppoli to pay approximately $12.6 million to $13 million in damages.

The plaintiffs testified to sexual assaults occurring between 2001 and 2020, including allegations of rape and groping. While 13 women originally accused Foppoli of misconduct in 2021, leading to his resignation as mayor, this specific civil case involved seven plaintiffs. Although criminal charges were suspended in 2024 due to a lack of evidence, the civil jury reached a liability verdict following a seven-week trial.

Foppoli has consistently denied all allegations of nonconsensual sexual acts. His attorney, Andrew Watters, expressed disappointment with the verdict, citing legal errors and limitations on the defense's ability to present witnesses and evidence. The defense team is currently evaluating an appeal.
