Dominic Silvester defends Saracens CEO amid claims of executive chaos
Saracens owner Dominic Silvester has issued an open letter expressing “full confidence” in chief executive Ed Coetzee, dismissing recent reports of “executive-level chaos” at the club. The response follows an article in The Times which suggested the 2022 takeover had triggered instability, noting that Coetzee is the club’s third CEO in two years and alleging high staff turnover could deter sponsors.
Silvester defended Coetzee’s leadership by highlighting several recent achievements, including negotiating the agreement to bring the ATHLOS international women’s athletics meeting to StoneX Stadium in 2026. He also cited the successful negotiation of a Gaelic football fixture and a future agreement to use Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium for a match against Harlequins in 2027.
The owner emphasized that the strengthened executive team, which includes CFO Jason Thomas and COO Rob Cook, is focused on building a financially sustainable business while maintaining high-performance sporting ambitions.
