Dominic Thiem discusses friendship and training with Jannik Sinner

Former US Open champion Dominic Thiem has discussed his friendship with Jannik Sinner, noting the bond they have developed over several years. Thiem highlighted that their ability to communicate in German has helped facilitate their connection.

The relationship became particularly notable in 2025 when Sinner served a three-month suspension. During this period, Sinner was restricted from training in environments connected to official tennis institutions or practicing with active professional players. Thiem, who had recently retired from the professional circuit, served as one of Sinner's training partners to help him prepare for his return to the tour.

Despite their close relationship and mutual respect, the two players never faced each other in an official professional match. Sinner previously praised Thiem’s character, describing him as a “fantastic person” who brought positive energy to the locker room.
