Dominican Air Force officer death under investigation in Boca Chica
Authorities in the Dominican Republic are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death for Nélsido Polanco Plascencia, a lieutenant in the Dominican Air Force (FARD). The incident occurred in the Valiente sector of La Caleta, Boca Chica.
While preliminary medical reports suggested the officer died from abdominal thoracic trauma following a collision with a wall, his family and human rights defender Diógenes Ozuna have rejected the accident hypothesis. They allege the death was a targeted assassination motivated by revenge stemming from a past confrontation.
According to the family, Polanco Plascencia was pursued by a group of motorcyclists after a verbal altercation. They claim a shot was fired during the chase, striking the officer in the eye and causing him to lose control of his motorcycle. Additionally, a National Police sergeant, Arismendi Yosanis Rodríguez, was reportedly wounded by gunfire during the same incident and remains hospitalized.
