Dominican-Argentine travel increases following visa changes
Travel between the Dominican Republic and Argentina has seen a significant increase following the removal of visa requirements for Dominican tourists. Dominican Ambassador to Argentina, Jorge Marte Báez, reported a 123% growth in Dominican arrivals so far this year, with nearly 6,000 visitors recorded through August—a figure exceeding any previous full year.
The policy, authorized in July 2025 by Argentina's Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers, allows Dominican citizens with valid United States visas to enter Argentina for tourism for up to 90 days without a visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE).
Tourism flows are also increasing in the opposite direction. Approximately half a million Argentines visited the Dominican Republic last year, a figure projected to rise this year. Ambassador Báez also noted ongoing efforts to improve commercial relations and address the trade imbalance between the two nations.
