Dominican Army delivers remodeled border detachment in Elías Piña

The Dominican Republic’s Army handed over the newly rebuilt Cañada Miguel detachment in Hondo Valle, Elías Piña, marking the third border post refurbished in a month. The ceremony was led by Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez and attended by provincial officials and military commanders.

The upgrade is part of a wider infrastructure‑modernisation programme aimed at improving living conditions for troops and boosting the army’s response capability along the frontier. Cañada Miguel follows similar renovations at Bánica and Guayabal in the same province, and joins earlier works at El Carril and El Cercado in San Juan. Officials said the projects reinforce state presence and security in the border region.
