Dominican Army remodels border outposts in Bánica and Puerto Escondido
General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, commander of the Dominican Republic Army, led ceremonies to hand over the renovated Bánica outpost in Elías Piña province and to reinaugurate the Puerto Escondido outpost in Duvergé, Independencia province. The upgrades modernised facilities, improved living and operational conditions, and equipped the 14th Infantry Battalion to better monitor the southern border. Officials present included provincial governor Migdaly de los Santos, Colonel Domingo Cruz Sosa, Brigadier General Freddy Soto Thormann, Lieutenant Colonel Víctor Manuel Mateo Báez and local mayor José Alfonso Almonte Pérez. The projects aim to strengthen security against illegal migration, smuggling, environmental crimes and to protect Dominican sovereignty along the frontier.
