Dominican Army seizes drugs in two separate vehicle inspections

The Dominican Army has conducted two separate drug seizure operations in the southern region of the country.

In Vicente Noble, a 23-year-old Army private, Eduard Alexis Urbaez Urbaez, was arrested during a routine inspection. Authorities discovered approximately 2 kilograms of a white substance suspected to be cocaine and 90 pounds of suspected marijuana hidden in a compartment within a Nissan Caravan van. The substances have been sent to the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) for analysis.

In a separate incident in Azua, military personnel intercepted a black Nissan pickup truck at a checkpoint. Upon inspecting the vehicle, soldiers discovered a false bottom installed in the truck bed. Multiple packages of suspected marijuana were found concealed within this structure. The driver was detained, and the vehicle and substances are currently in military custody awaiting official weighing and legal proceedings by the Public Ministry and the DNCD.
