Dominican Arrested in New Jersey After Pennsylvania Murder

Federal agents detained 43‑year‑old Dominican national Federico Pérez Polanco at a New Jersey airport as he prepared to board a flight to the Dominican Republic. Pérez Polanco is accused of committing a first‑degree murder in Reading, Pennsylvania, where a 32‑year‑old man was shot multiple times early Sunday and pronounced dead at the scene. After the killing, the suspect fled Pennsylvania, traveling to New Jersey in an attempt to leave the United States. Inter‑agency cooperation between U.S. authorities led to his capture; he remains in federal custody awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania for prosecution. Reading Mayor Eddie Morán praised the swift action that secured the arrest and promised that justice will be pursued.
