Dominican authorities dismantle illegal alcohol factory and arrest drug suspects
Law enforcement agencies in the Dominican Republic have conducted separate operations targeting illegal manufacturing and drug trafficking. In La Romana, members of the Provincial Intelligence Division (DINTEL) and the Preventive Police dismantled a suspected clandestine factory in Villa Hermosa. The operation, located in a house under construction in the Juan Pablo Duarte sector, uncovered equipment and materials allegedly used to produce clerén and other adulterated alcoholic beverages. Seized items included a 55-gallon metal tank, an industrial burner, a gas tank, and various containers holding suspected illicit liquids.
In La Vega, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Public Ministry arrested two individuals suspected of participating in a micro-trafficking structure. The detainees, identified as Luis Alberto Florimón Abreu and Luis Miguel Lora Canela, are allegedly linked to a criminal organization led by an individual known as “Carlitos Darielky.” Authorities seized approximately 394 grams of suspected cocaine, 61 grams of marijuana, a homemade firearm, a scale, and cash during the operations in the Barranca sector.
