Argentina and Dominican Republic advance child protection laws

In Argentina, legislative efforts are advancing to combat digital violence in schools through the ‘Ley Ema’. The Rosario Municipal Council has approved its adherence to the provincial law, which establishes a comprehensive system to prevent and address issues such as cyberbullying, grooming, and the non-consensual distribution of intimate content. The initiative, named after Ema Bondaruk, aims to integrate digital citizenship into educational training and update school protocols to protect students' privacy and integrity.

In the Dominican Republic, the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI) and the Cabinet of Children and Adolescents are working to reform Law 136-03, known as the Code for the Protection and Fundamental Rights of Children, Girls, and Adolescents. This reform process involves dialogue with various civil society organizations and technical sectors to update the legal framework to better reflect current social and judicial realities, ensuring more robust protection for minors.
