Dominican authorities seize 555 cocaine packages in Baní

The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) in the Dominican Republic intercepted a speedboat off the coast of Baní, Peravia province, seizing 555 packages of suspected cocaine. The operation, which involved the Dominican Navy, Air Force, and the Public Ministry with support from international agencies including the U.S. DEA and SOUTHCOM, followed an intelligence alert regarding a high-speed vessel.

Authorities discovered the drugs hidden in a secret compartment constructed beneath the boat's seats, a method designed to evade detection. Three Dominican nationals—Fredelis Ferrera Feliz, Dani Cuevas Matos, and Miguel Medina Medina—were arrested during the interception.

This seizure follows a major operation on Tuesday near Pedernales, where 1,068 packages of cocaine were confiscated. Investigators are currently working to determine if these two incidents are linked to the same narcotics trafficking structure.
