Dominican Republic authorities seize over one ton of cocaine near Pedernales

The Dominican Republic's National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), in coordination with the Dominican Navy, Air Force, and Public Ministry, intercepted a 40-foot Go-Fast vessel near the coast of Pedernales. The operation took place southwest of Beata Island and resulted in the seizure of 1,068 packages of suspected cocaine, totaling more than one ton.

Three Colombian nationals—identified as Jader Nixon Pana Mena, Welinston Hooker Hokins, Wilmer Dimitri, and Escalone Rid—were arrested during the operation. The vessel was equipped with two 300-horsepower engines, 12 fuel tanks, three batteries, a Starlink communication device, GPS navigators, and various provisions.

The seized narcotics were found wrapped in adhesive tape and marked with various commercial logos, including Supreme, Versace, Pepsi, CAT, and ON. The operation was supported by international intelligence agencies, including the U.S. South Command (SOUTHCOM), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
