Dominican basketball organizations announce 2026 tournament details

Basketball organizations in the Dominican Republic have announced organizational updates for their upcoming 2026 superior tournaments.

In the Distrito Nacional, the Asociación de Baloncesto del Distrito Nacional (Abadina) announced that the 50th edition of the TBS Distrito will begin on September 15, 2026. The tournament, marking its ‘Golden Anniversary,’ will be held at the Arena BanReservas Profesor Virgilio Travieso Soto. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 8:00 PM, featuring a matchup between the Mauricio Báez and Bameso clubs. Andrés Bautista serves as the president of the Organizing Committee.

In Barahona, Edgar Augusto Féliz Arbona has accepted the presidency of the Organizing Committee for the TBS Barahona 2026. Féliz Arbona, who also directs the Dirección de Asistencia Social y Alimentación Comunitaria (DASAC), has committed to managing resources and prioritizing security to ensure a safe environment for athletes and fans. The appointment was finalized during a meeting involving local authorities and the Asociación de Baloncesto de la Provincia de Barahona (ASOBAPROBA).
