Dominican basketball player Yeury Rodríguez shot dead in Santo Domingo

Thirty‑year‑old Yeury Rodríguez, a member of the Club San Carlos basketball team, was killed on Sunday afternoon in the San Carlos district of Santo Domingo after being shot during an alleged robbery. Police say he was helping a friend install a sound system when a masked assailant on a motorcycle approached, stole personal items including a chain, and fired a bullet that struck Rodríguez in the chest.

Colonel Diego Pesqueira, the National Police spokesperson, confirmed that investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses and the victim’s companion, and are working to identify the shooter.
