Dominican Community in New York Honors Mothers Day, Reaffirms Support for Congressman Adriano Espaillat

The Institute of Dominicans in the Exterior (INDEX) hosted a Mothers Day ceremony in the Bronx, drawing more than a hundred Dominican women. Vice‑minister Celinés Toribio highlighted the three‑million‑strong Dominican diaspora and spoke of her own mother’s critical health, urging attendees to cherish their mothers. INDEX offered legal advice, training and cultural programs, and distributed flowers, appliances and TVs to participants.

During the event the organization publicly backed Congressman Adriano Espaillat, noting his role in securing federal funds for New York housing, health clinics and community centers, and his advocacy for Dominican‑American interests such as DACA, TPS, disaster aid and security cooperation with the Dominican Republic. An accompanying opinion piece praised Espaillat’s long‑standing public service and urged voters to keep him in office, citing his influence on budget appropriations that directly benefit the Dominican community in the city.
