Dominican community in the US could influence elections

An estimated 1.2 million people of Dominican descent have the potential to participate in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections on November 3. According to estimates from the civic organization Los Dominicanos Votan, the population is heavily concentrated in six states: New York, New Jersey, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

The organization noted that actual participation depends on U.S. citizenship, age, and voter registration compliance. Los Dominicanos Votan, founded in 2019, focuses on electoral education and civic engagement to strengthen representation in areas such as education, employment, health, and the economy.

In New York, early voting began on October 24 and runs through November 1. On Election Day, November 3, polling stations will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
