Dominican community organizations host charity gala and heritage tours

The Fundación Hermanos Rojas (SOLN) has announced its first charity gala, to be held on Saturday, August 28, at The Eastwood Manor in the Bronx, New York. Directed by Roberto Rojas, the non-profit organization aims to raise funds to support social and philanthropic work in the Dominican Republic. Proceeds will fund university scholarships for low-income students, the construction and reconstruction of housing, and the development of sports facilities for baseball, softball, and basketball. Additionally, the funds will support the distribution of medical supplies, such as wheelchairs, walkers, and hospital beds, as well as school supplies and community medical operations.

In Santiago, Dominican Republic, the local Mayor's Office, through its Directorate of Culture and Citizen Education, conducted a heritage tour titled ‘De Capotillo al Monumento: la Restauración nos une’. Held during Restoration Month, the initiative aimed to promote historical memory and national identity by visiting sites linked to the Dominican Restoration War. The tour included the Fortaleza San Luis and the Monument to the Grito de Capotillo in Dajabón, honoring the historical figures and communities that participated in the struggle for sovereignty in 1863.
