Dominican Customs issues 48-hour deadline for undeclared port cargo

The Dominican Republic's General Directorate of Customs (DGA) has issued a 48-hour deadline for importers and consignees to declare goods that have remained unloaded in ports for more than 30 days without the required customs documentation.

According to a public notice, failure to regularize the status of these shipments within the two-business-day window may result in the goods being classified as abandoned under Article 112 of Customs Law No. 168-21. In such cases, the administration will proceed with recognition and liquidation to determine value and tax obligations. Once these procedures are complete, the goods may be sold through public auction.
