Dominican doctors released after accusations of sexual assault and child death
Doctor Wilver Armando Polanco Sanz, who faced a trial for alleged sexual assault during a pelvic ultrasound in Las Guáranas, had the accuser withdraw her complaint and request his release, stating she misinterpreted the procedure. The court will now consider the new statements.
Doctor Óscar Dubón was detained by the National Police in connection with a suspected cover‑up of a minor’s death in El Progreso. After several hours in custody, he was released, while investigations into the child’s death and related injuries continue.
Both cases involve legal proceedings against medical professionals in the Dominican Republic, highlighting tensions between health workers, patients, and authorities.
