Dominican Drug Agency Chief Credits US Partnership for Caribbean Narcotics Dismantling

Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, head of the Dominican Republic's National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), said the strategic alliance with the United States has been decisive in strengthening the fight against drug trafficking and dismantling transnational crime networks in the Caribbean.

He made the remarks at the graduation ceremony for the Basic Course of the Sensitive Investigation Unit (SIU) held at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration academy in Quantico, Virginia. The event saw 40 graduates from six nations, and was attended by DEA officials Daniel Salter and Michael Mayer. Cabrera Ulloa highlighted the importance of joint training, trust‑building and professional development in enhancing regional security.

The DNCD chief also referenced recent remarks by DEA Administrator Terrance Cole, who praised the Dominican government under President Luis Abinader for its leadership in the fight against narcotics in the region.
