Dominican Republic electrical entities advance grid infrastructure and governance

The Dominican Republic is undergoing several electrical infrastructure improvements and institutional updates. The Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana (ETED) is conducting scheduled maintenance on 69 kV transmission lines across the North, Northeast, South, and East regions to ensure grid reliability. This includes replacing deteriorated structures in Monseñor Nouel and Puerto Plata provinces, as well as performing work in Barahona and San Pedro de Macorís.

Additionally, ETED is executing technical adjustments to 138 kV transmission lines to facilitate the construction of the Navarrete Bypass, ensuring continuous power supply during roadwork. To strengthen its internal operations, ETED held its fourth Energy and Sustainability Forum, focusing on corporate governance, legal updates, and compliance to improve decision-making and risk management.

In Santiago, EDENORTE Dominicana has presented plans for the construction of the Omsa and Gurabo substations. Funded by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), these projects aim to strengthen the distribution network and improve service quality for over 68,000 users in various sectors of the city.
