Dominican ex-presidents Leonel Fernández and Danilo Medina align on national criticisms

Former Dominican Republic presidents Leonel Fernández and Danilo Medina have made strikingly similar criticisms regarding the current administration's handling of national issues.

During a Fuerza del Pueblo party event in Pedro Brand, Leonel Fernández criticized the ruling Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) for failing to maintain a consistent electricity supply, citing frequent blackouts, rising electricity tariffs, and a decline in purchasing power. He also noted concerns regarding the cost of basic goods and public insecurity.

Following these remarks, Danilo Medina made similar statements in Duvergé. He argued that the PRM administration is becoming too expensive for the Dominican people, pointing to increased electricity losses, debt interest payments, public payroll costs, and pension expenditures. Medina attributed the electricity sector's difficulties to inefficiency and a lack of investment during the current administration's first term.
