Dominican Fuerza del Pueblo flags pension abuse at New York consulate and rallies diaspora members

Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) leader Odell Suero, the party’s secretary‑general in New York, alleged that a number of officials from the governing Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) receive state pensions while simultaneously drawing salaries at the Dominican Republic’s consulate in New York. He cited monthly pensions ranging from RD$30,000 to RD$125,000 and demanded that the Dominican government disclose the criteria, decrees and beneficiary lists, calling the practice an “offensive” double remuneration of public funds.

Separately, FP vice‑secretary general Gregorio Morrobel announced a diaspora oath‑taking ceremony for new party members, beginning in Danbury, Connecticut, on 21 June, after a similar mass ceremony in Madrid, Spain. Morrobel framed the events as a response to “the severe crisis and missteps of the current government” and urged overseas Dominicans to join what he described as a collective effort for peace, progress and freedom.

Both statements underline FP’s strategy of exposing alleged financial irregularities in Dominican public institutions abroad while mobilising expatriate supporters for the party’s political platform.
