Dominican historian calls for recognition of 1965 constitutionalist military

Historian Andrés Fortunato Victoriá has called upon the Dominican government to fulfill outstanding claims and recognition for the constitutionalist military members of the April 24, 1965, movement. During a press conference, Victoriá argued that those who defended the nation's democracy and sovereignty deserve the rights established by the Constitution and national laws.

The Foundation of Constitutionalist Military of April 24, 1965, emphasized the historical impact of the 1963 coup against President Juan Bosch and the subsequent 1965 war. Victoriá also noted the importance of honoring these veterans to provide security and a sense of commitment to current soldiers serving in border regions. The group urged patriotic sectors to maintain national unity to prevent future disruptions of democratic order.
