Dominican Institute honors 30 diaspora youth in ODEX 2026 program
The Institute of Dominicans in the Exterior (Index) recognized thirty Dominican‑origin youths, aged 10 to 17, for academic excellence, leadership and community commitment as part of the Orgullo Dominicano en el Exterior (ODEX) 2026 initiative. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Convention Center and was led by Index executive director Celinés Toribio, Vice‑Minister for Dominican Communities abroad, José Miguel Zabala and Henry Ogando of Banreservas, the program’s official sponsor.
During their stay the participants visited the National Palace, met President Luis Abinader, attended a "Deputy for a Day" session at the National Congress, toured the Colonial City, enjoyed a special Toy Story screening, and took part in cultural activities in San Cristóbal. The program aims to strengthen the diaspora’s connection to Dominican history, culture and values.
