Dominican jet club disaster victims honored in mass at former Jet Set site
A memorial mass was held at the former Jet Set nightclub site in Santo Domingo, the location of the April 8 2025 tragedy that killed 236 people and injured more than 180. Families, relatives and community members gathered to pray and remember the victims, while calling for justice. Priest Rogelio Cruz urged that each deceased victim’s responsible be sentenced to two years in prison per death, ahead of a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 15. The ceremony highlighted the ongoing demand for accountability and continued support for those affected one year and two months after the disaster.
The event underscores the lasting impact of the tragedy on Dominican society and the resolve of victims’ families to keep the memory of the lost alive while seeking proportional legal consequences.
