Leonel Fernández promotes diaspora alliance during US tour

Leonel Fernández, president of the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, is conducting a political and academic tour in the United States. In Reading, Pennsylvania, Fernández led a ceremony to swear in new members of the FP, including former members of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC).

During his address, Fernández emphasized the need for a strategic alliance between the Dominican Republic and its diaspora. He advocated for the integration of Dominicans living abroad—specifically in the US and Spain—into the nation's future development. He used the slogan “Let’s make the Dominican Republic great again” to underscore this vision.

Fernández’s itinerary includes meetings with the Dominican community in Miami and Philadelphia, followed by engagements in New Jersey and New York. In New York, he is scheduled to lead the VIII Global Forum of Latin America and the Caribbean at Columbia University, focusing on the transformations of the international order.
