Dominican literary works highlighted at Santo Domingo Book Fair

During the 2026 Santo Domingo International Book Fair, several literary works were highlighted. Jesuit priest and philosopher Pablo Virgilio Mella Febles won the Eduardo León Jimenes National Literary Award for his book, ‘Ética de la praxis educativa. Entre la profesionalidad y el compromiso’. Mella announced he is donating the RD$1 million cash prize to his publisher, Editorial Universitaria Bonó.

Additionally, writer Andrés Ulloa released a 490-page study titled ‘José Mármol y la poética del pensar’, published by Búho. The work explores the connections between philosophy, myth, language, and poetry in the creation of Dominican poet José Mármol. The presentation took place at the Museum of Natural History and featured Mármol himself, to whom the current edition of the book fair is dedicated.
