Dominican media personalities clash over aging and cosmetic surgery

Dominican media personalities are engaged in a public dispute regarding aging, aesthetic procedures, and the concept of “envejecer con dignidad” (aging with dignity).

Communicator Melisa Montás responded to criticisms from singer La Materialista. The tension arose after La Materialista questioned Montás’s comments regarding women over 40 and criticized Montás for using cosmetic enhancements. Montás clarified that her remarks were not directed at all women over 40, but rather at those who use excessive surgeries to resist the aging process, stating that such individuals are “fighting with the youth that you do not have.”

In a related exchange, Amelia Alcántara challenged Isaura Taveras over Taveras's comments about aging with dignity. Alcántara argued that true dignity in aging involves reaching an advanced age without the use of injections or surgical retouching, noting that both she and Taveras have undergone aesthetic procedures.
