Dominican Monte Plata cattle association workers unpaid for eight months

Around 105 employees of the Asociación de Ganaderos de Monte Plata (Agampta) in the Dominican Republic have gone almost eight months without receiving any salary. The workers say the last payment was the Easter royalty in February, after which no further wages, tax contributions, or social‑security deposits have been made.

Spokespersons Martín Ramos and Luis Cordero describe how the lack of pay has forced many families into debt, left school supplies unaffordable for children, and even caused some workers to lose their homes. They allege that the association’s administration mismanaged funds and failed to report two payroll installments to the state.

Agampta officials claim negotiations with the Dominican government are underway through a trust involving Banco Agrícola and the Junta Agro Empresarial Dominicana, but no concrete outcome has been announced.
