Dominican officials boost tourism and trade fairs to spur regional growth
Mayor Ulises Rodríguez of Santiago met with the Association of Hotels and Tourism of Santiago (ASHORESA) to reinforce municipal support for the city’s tourism sector. The officials reviewed the sector’s performance, identified needs such as infrastructure, cleanliness and safety, and pledged coordinated action to enhance Santiago’s appeal as a destination for tourists and business travelers.
Separately, the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago Rodríguez province announced the La V Feria Multisectorial Santiago Rodríguez 2026, scheduled for 23‑26 July at the Politécnico Librado Eugenio Belliard. The four‑day fair, marking the 50th anniversary of the COOPSANO cooperative, will showcase local products, services, cultural events and conferences aimed at promoting the province’s economic, social and cultural development.
Both initiatives reflect a broader push by local authorities in the Dominican Republic to stimulate regional economies through tourism, trade exhibitions and public‑private collaboration.
