Dominican Ombudsman invites Pope Leo XIV to visit
Pablo Ulloa, the Ombudsman of the Dominican Republic, has formally invited Pope Leo XIV to visit the country during any future tours of the Americas. During an audience with the Pontiff, Ulloa suggested the Pope explore the ‘Ruta de las Américas’ to better understand the nation's history and its connections with other peoples.
Ulloa also requested prayers for the Dominican people, specifically mentioning families striving to improve their circumstances, youth in search of opportunities, and those facing silent hardships. He advocated for a society rooted in dignity, justice, and peace. Ulloa was accompanied in Rome by Víctor Suárez, the Dominican Ambassador to the Holy See, and Rafael Lantigua, the Dominican Ambassador to Italy.
