Dominican overseas deputies face scrutiny over effectiveness

The seven overseas deputies representing the Dominican diaspora face scrutiny regarding their effectiveness and the relevance of their legislative contributions. In recent legislative terms, most submitted projects have focused on national project loans, resolutions recognizing diaspora personalities, or requests for identification operations. Significant issues remain unaddressed, including difficulties in renewing national ID cards (cédulas) in cities like New York, complex civil registration processes for children born in Europe, the lack of double taxation agreements for residents in the US, and legal hurdles for deportees lacking basic documentation.
