Dominican Parade crowns Miss República Dominicana 2026 in New Jersey

The Dominican community in New Jersey held its annual Desfile Dominicano Estatal 2026, awarding several titles that highlighted cultural pride and community service. Kasandra Cruz, representing the province of Sánchez Ramírez, was crowned Miss República Dominicana 2026, delivering a folkloric dance tribute and emphasizing her family's roots in Fantino. Mary Cuevas, a former basketball player, won the Mrs. Desfile Dominicano Estatal title and spoke about using sport to empower youth through her Girls Got Game foundation. In a separate crowning, Johanna Molina, representing Santiago Rodríguez, also received the Miss República Dominicana title, dedicating her win to her son and to women who have survived domestic violence, urging them to persevere.

All three titleholders stressed that their crowns symbolize more than personal achievement; they represent the Dominican diaspora’s identity, discipline, and commitment to service within the United States.
