Dominican Parade in Manhattan Marks 44th Annual Celebration
The Dominican Parade in Manhattan will hold its 44th edition on Sunday, 9 August, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The procession will travel along Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) from 36th to 55th Street under the theme “Identity and Culture.”
Dr. Ramón Tallaj, founder and president of SOMOS Community Care, will serve as Grand Marshal, and Goya Foods will receive a legacy award. Radio personality Frederick Martínez, known as “El Pachá,” has been named King of the Parade. Performers such as Shino Aguakate and Lizbel Ortiz are slated to appear.
Manhattan streets—including sections of Sixth Avenue and nearby cross‑streets—will be closed for the event, and officials advise motorists to expect delays. The celebration brings together community organizations, artists, political representatives and thousands of Dominicans living in New York, highlighting the diaspora’s cultural identity.
