Dominican PLD leaders call for public debates and reactivate splinter party ahead of 2028 election

PLD political figure Francisco Domínguez Brito said candidates must present their ideas directly to voters and participate in public debates, rejecting reliance on short Instagram videos. He affirmed his intention to seek the PLD presidential nomination for the 2028 election and criticized political communication that focuses solely on social‑media marketing.

At the same time, the splinter group Partido Justicia Social (PJS), founded by former PLD leader Julio César Valentín, is undergoing a reactivation phase. Valentín and party secretary Anyolino Germosén are touring provinces to organize the party around youth, women and community leaders, positioning the PJS as a progressive force for the 2028 electoral contest. Discussions also mention the possibility of the PJS being formally integrated into the governing PRM.
