Dominican Republic authorities dismantle international drug trafficking network FAST-MOVING
The Ministerio Público and the Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas (DNCD) executed 'Operación LGTCA,' dismantling an international drug trafficking network in the Dominican Republic. The criminal structure utilized the eastern coastline, specifically between the Chavón River mouth and Bayahíbe, as an operational base to receive shipments from South America.
Authorities utilized the coast to facilitate the redistribution of controlled substances to Puerto Rico via fast boats. The operation involved 18 prosecutors and more than 300 agents, resulting in 14 simultaneous raids across the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, and Puerto Plata.
As a result of the intervention, approximately 11 people were arrested. Law enforcement also seized 10 vehicles of various models, several boats, GPS tracking devices, communication equipment, cash, and documents. Authorities have identified at least 10 key members of the organization, some of whom have prior convictions for drug trafficking in Puerto Rico.
