Naranjal stabbing kills Colombian mother and daughter
Two Colombian women, identified as María del Carmen Valencia Hoyos and her daughter Jessica Lorena Ramírez Valencia, were fatally stabbed in an attack inside a residence on Hipólito González Street in Naranjal, Guayas, Ecuador on the night of 28 July 2026. A 25‑year‑old male survivor was left in critical condition.
Ecuadorian police have sealed the scene and are investigating a possible link to an informal loan dispute (“chulco”). Early leads also consider the involvement of Venezuelan nationals, but authorities say the motives remain preliminary and no arrests have been made.
