Dominican Republic political figures position for upcoming elections

In the Dominican Republic, political figures are actively positioning themselves for upcoming elections. President Luis Abinader, acting as president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), met with members of the party's Italian section to advocate for internal unity and democratic transition. He urged presidential aspirants to avoid personal attacks and instead focus on defending government achievements. Abinader also proposed modernizing party communication through digital tools and the creation of ‘chat committees’ to combat misinformation.

Simultaneously, Gonzalo Castillo, a presidential aspirant for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), conducted a tour of nine localities in the Monseñor Nouel province. Castillo addressed community concerns regarding unemployment, electricity costs, public safety, and water access. He emphasized the need for new investments and industrial recovery, while highlighting previous infrastructure and agricultural investments made during PLD administrations.

Other political developments include former deputy Ramón Ceballo expressing support for Wellington Arnaud, citing his management experience at INAPA. Additionally, deputy Elvira Corporán noted that some citizens view David Collado as a potential successor to Abinader, highlighting his growing political influence.
