Delia Ortiz endorses Carolina Mejía for 2028 presidency

In Dominican politics, Delia Ortiz, a former presidential aspirant for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), has formally endorsed Carolina Mejía for the 2028 presidency. Ortiz announced that her political structure, previously known as ‘Delia tá pa’ ti’, will transition to ‘Toy pa’ ti, Carolina’ to support Mejía’s candidacy within the party and the subsequent national elections.

Simultaneously, political leaders are criticizing the current state of the national electricity system. Francisco Javier García of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and Domingo Salcedo of the Fuerza del Pueblo have denounced frequent power outages and rising electricity bills. They argue that these service interruptions negatively impact economic productivity, local businesses, and household budgets. Additionally, Víctor Pavón has reported that Edeeste suspended electricity to state-built sports centers in Santo Domingo Norte, a move he claims harms community development and youth engagement.
