Dominican Republic pushes housing with title grants and new homes

President Luis Abinader handed out 1,000 property titles in the Los Frailes neighbourhood of Santo Domingo Este, giving legal ownership to more than 4,000 residents. The ceremony was part of a national titling programme that has already delivered roughly 170,000 titles across the country, improving security of tenure and enabling beneficiaries to access formal credit, expand their homes or start businesses.

The Dominican government also announced that the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings has completed about 900 apartment deliveries in the first half of 2026 and plans to hand over more than 4,000 additional units in the coming months. A further batch of around 170 apartments is scheduled for delivery in Hato del Yaque on 8 August, while the ministry works on finalising an update to the Dominican Seismic Code to raise construction safety standards.
